Oyster Point

A New Life Sciences Campus for South San Francisco

With Genentech and over two hundred other life science companies in South San Francisco, the area has quickly become the country's pre-eminent market for the bioscience industry.

We purchased an existing collection of five single-story industrial buildings and adjacent marina on 25 acres to take advantage of the momentum in this market and neighborhood.

In developing the master plan for this large site, we closely collaborated with the city of South San Francisco on infrastructure projects such as new roads, utilities, and outdoor amenities, including over ten acres of public open space and an extensive portion of the Bay Trail.

The site was entitled for a four-phase development totaling 2.25 million square feet of office space and new life science R&D. Designed to achieve LEED Gold Certification during the schematic phase, it was sold in 2017 and attained LEED Platinum Certification upon completing the first phase of development.

The Oyster Point purchase included a private 235-berth marina. Additionally, it is home to a new ferry terminal providing service to and from Oakland and Alameda via the San Francisco Bay Ferry.
