Attention to Detail

With its exceptional SOMA location across the street from South Park and just three blocks from AT&T Park, 501 Second had all the makings of a flagship building but needed some updates to enhance its world-class character.

When we bought it, the building featured a dated redwood entrance lobby and an aging exterior. We rebuilt the lobby, added a new entrance canopy and polished the exterior presentation, restoring its historic charm with a refined look.

The first four floors of the building were constructed in 1925 from steel-reinforced poured-in-place concrete. An additional three stories made from structural steel were added in 1986, along with new seismic and system upgrades. Including storage and parking, the six-story building now totals 236,913 square feet.

Zoning laws benefit 501 Second and protect its stellar Bay views from future development.

We were able to preserve the building’s original gargoyles by recasting and replacing all that were missing or damaged.
