301 Brannan

Setting Our Sights on SOMA

As the first building we ever purchased, 301 Brannan marks the debut of our approach to investing: balancing analysis and intuition. At the time, brick-and-timber open office spaces were beginning to see prevalence in creative economies across the country and the San Francisco north waterfront. These characteristics drew us toward the neglected warehouses that populated the South of Market area in the late 1990s.

Office

301 Brannan was among the first wave of new creative office spaces in SOMA and helped jumpstart the area’s transformation into the vibrant entrepreneurial enclave it is today.

The six-story building is part of San Francisco’s South End Historic District and contributes to the city’s list of historic resources by exemplifying the type of architecture that was prevalent at the turn of the century. Its massive steel frame, concrete structure, and brick facade also serve as an iconic example of SOMA style and are the kinds of details that are still in high demand today.
